Telangana Jagruthi leader Kavitha today announced that after a discussion with like-minded leaders, they would go to court to order the speaker to install an Ambedkar statue in the Assembly presmises.
Speaking to Postnoon soon after concluding her 48-hour hunger strike Kavitha said that they would go to the President of India and request for the installation of the statue in the Assembly. She has also set a dead line of August 15 for the said installation. Vivek, Jayprakash Narayan, Raghavulu and Bandaru Dattatreya too demanded that the statue be installed before the dead line.
While the deputy speaker Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana and minister Sailajanath assured that a decision in this regard has already been taken, Dalit leader Kathi Padma Rao criticised Kavitha for advocating Dalit rights. He charged that Kavitha's family always believed in upper hand for upper castes.
He alleged that while her father KCR, the TRS chief, conducts yagnas and poojas at the party office, she speaks about a casteless society. He also suggested that KCR must do the poojas and other things at his house and not at the party office if he is also for the rights of Dalits and a casteless society.
He also questioned why the Ambedkar statue was not installed at the TRS party office or at the Jagruthi office if the TRS respect the Dalit leader so much?
