Protest Demonstration at Uttar Pradesh Bhawan

On Saturday, August 4th, 2012, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm

at Uttar Pradesh Bhawan, Sardar Patel Marg, Chanakya Puri, New Delhi

Ever since SP came to power in UP in March 2012, ruthless onslaught on Dalits Bahujans is perpetuated with alarming speed. Having scrapped welfare and empowering schemes meant for marginalised sections of the society, the UP government changed the names of eight districts dedicated to the revolutionaries of social transformation and self-respect movement. With the arrogance of impunity, now they have started vandalising the memorials and statues of Bahujan icons.

Indefinite Relay Hunger Strike for the Implementation of SC, ST, and OBC Reservation

Indefinite Relay Hunger Strike (from 11.00 am, 30th July, 2012) for the Implementation of SC, ST, and OBC Reservation in Delhi University

[Via Hany Babu]

In the garb of protecting seats reserved for SC/ST from fraudulent certificates, and providing free registration forms, which is freely available to the general candidates online, the DU Administration has instituted a totally non-transparent process, which is an abomination. Enumerating the discriminatory and harassing practices will take up several pages, so we would not even attempt to do it.

The University also makes a mockery of the percentage of seats for the reserved categories by fixing the number of reserved seats on the basis of the "sanctioned" strength. However, the admissions in the "General Category" almost always exceed the sanctioned strength up to two or three times in some cases. RTI conducted in around 30 colleges in 2010 revealed that on an average General Category seats were filled in excess by 30% of the sanctioned strength. It was also revealed that in the very same colleges Reserved Category seats were filled 30% below the sanctioned strength.

Jotiba Phule IAS Academy

(Message from Jotiba Phule IAS Academy, Dhamma Bhoomi, Palwal, Haryana, via Rajkumar Ravana)

The constitution prepared by Dr. Ambedkar has not been implemented as most of its provisions remain unattended due to insensitive and unresponsive bureaucracy. A civil service dedicated to the cause of society and capable of transforming unequal and oppressive hierarchies into a perfect equalitarian system is the need of the hour. Keeping this objective in mind, the Dhamma Bhoomi in Palwal, Haryana, has accepted the challenge and initiated the process of establishing an IAS academy designed to help future civil servants meet the challenges of modern society.

A Day to Rewind History: Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Scholarships Award Function

(Message from Dhammabhoomi, Palwal)

On 21st July 1913, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar entered Columbia University, with the help of the Scholarship given by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III. With that help he got the opportunity to take up higher education. Since 99 years, no similar event has happened. It was the lack of our efforts. After analyzing our education history, we have decided to take up the initiative to provide scholarships to Needy and Meritorious Students, with the hope that through this scholarship they will make their futures bright and pay back to society like Babasaheb. This was the dream of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.
