Meeting to support our students in Vardhman Mahavir Medical College, New Delhi, and to demand implementation of Prof Mungekar’s Report, at 4.00 p.m., on 22nd September, Saturday, at Sutluj Hostel Mess, JNU

Dear Friends,
I am writing this note regarding enormous caste discrimination faced by Dalit & Adivasi medical students at Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC), New Delhi.
As some of you might be aware that on 6th September, the National Commission of Scheduled Caste (NCSC) has come out with Prof. Mungekar Committee report on the medical college that clearly depicts the level of caste discrimination faced by our students at VMMC.
Our students have been deliberately failed so much so that many of them have to leave the course in between.Since last three years some of the Dalit students from VMMC led by Manish Kumar have been fighting against the discrimination both in and outside the campus.
In the process, the students have filed 3 court cases in last two years and won all of them in their favour. Still the college administration refused to budge from its stand. Now even after a very hard hitting report from Prof Mungekar, on behalf of National Commission of SC, the college administration, the university and the health ministry is adamant and refusing to give justice to our students and also refusing to take any action against the casteist Professors.
In this regard some of us have decided to meet tommorow (Saturday) at Sutluj hostel mess in JNU at 4 pm to discuss on how we can support our students and force the college administration to implement the rcommendations made by Prof Mungekar Committee.
Some of the students from VMMC are also going to join us tommorow in the meeting.
