In today’s times, the Bahujan youth are facing challenges in trying to carve a niche for themselves in the corporate world. Talent and capability are never the issues for Bahujans. But at the same time, with the rapidly changing scenario in workforce, the modes of recruitment are changing. Gone are the days when a position used to be published in a newspaper and people would then apply for it by sending a copy of their bio-data by post.
Nowadays, various online tools are used for any job application process( especially by Private sector companies). The importance of having the right Curriculum Vitae (CV) cannot be overstated. Add to that the concept of hiring being done by tools like LinkedIn.
Hence, in order to address the challenge, Bahujan Career Professionals (BCP) came up with the idea of organizing a workshop to address these aspects. BCP is a group of like minded people following the Bahujan philosophy and trying to help students and career professionals. Please details of the event here.
The event was initially publicized on the Facebook platform with a page and event being created. It created a buzz and entries were accepted online.
Once registration were done, personalized invites were sent to every participant. Sample of the promotions and invites are shown below:
Event: During the day of the event, the event began with the youngest female participants garlanding the statues of Shahu Maharaj, Jotiba Phule and Dr.Ambedkar.
After that, the Preamble of the Constitution was read out. This was done during both the sessions. A short video is shown here,
The sessions focused on the following aspects:
– What are the key components in a CV
– Concept of keywords in a CV
– CV Writing Tips
– How to apply for Online Applications
– How to use LinkedIn for Professional needs
Many real life examples were shared. During the breaks, Songs of Babasaheb were sung to bring the Bahujan culture in the program.
Overall, the event was successful and engaging through the 3 hours for each session. Feedback was also sought from the participants- oral as well as written.
Some of the feedback is shared below:
a) I’m writing this e-mail as a token of expressing my gratitude and appreciation for the hard work put in, and the time you guys devoted for actualizing an idea into a practical interactive session.
I solemnly thank Vinay Sir, Swapnil, Gajbhiye Sir, Sushma, Rahul and many more people who worked incessantly in making this pet project a reality.

c) “Firstly, I liked the way the session started by garlanding our three icons. The importance you gave to the Indian constitution and thus made us recite the Preamble. I felt a sense of unity when you so well focused on the teachings bestowed upon us by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Mahatma Phule and Shahu Maharaj.
I personally learnt many additional things when it comes to CV writing. Right from knowing what all has to be written, to what extent it has to be written to and where it has to be written I got to know many more aspects of it! Constructing our CV depending on the job profile of the position we want to apply was the strategy I liked them most. Your explanation of the online application process was very useful in making me realize the importance of that paper which is my CV. Showing the sample CVs helped me to get a pictorial clubbing of all that you told into my brain. Secondly I in spite of having a LinkedIn profile never realized its importance and hence never took any efforts to add content to it. Now I know how to keep my LinkedIn profile updated as also how to make use of it and make connections and learn about the company’s updates which I wish to join by following it on LinkedIn.
The one thing I felt was that the session was a little job oriented and some pointed out when it comes to applying for an internship might have not been covered that efficiently. But still the stuff you told is definitely going to be much helpful to me in my future. Your way of addressing us was very comfortable and reduced our hesitation to ask you questions of any kind. Also your transition in language of speaking from English to Marathi as also Hindi was very helpful at times.
I thank Bahujan Career Professionals and especially Vinay Shende sir for conducting such a useful and informative session and I look forward to have and help you in more such sessions for our people who lack the knowledge about this. I would love to work with Bahujan Career Professionals further.”
