Born in the shade of the largest democracy of the world, Poorna Malavath, Kalpana Chawla, Tina Dhabi, Sakshi, Saina Nehwal and Sania Mirza could realize their dreams and soar to touch not just a half, but the whole sky.
In this 40 min documentary film “Teri Zameen Tera Aasman: Bhartiya Naari! Tu Aazaad Kahaan” (“O ye Indian Women! Where art thou free” ) women of the Indian universe, ordinary, extraordinary, teachers, labourers, students, activists, lawyers, all who occupy half of the sky speak to you. Tracing the past and present with the viewer, they share what freedom means to them now and in the future, engaging not in a victim or patronized narrative but as real conscious agents of change determined to transform the world around them for good.
Production: The film was produced on a shoestring budget from donations made by individual activists in India.

Profiles
Jeevan Gawande, board member of Mulniwasi Publication Trust, executive producer and sub-editor with Awaaz India TV, has to his credit 90 documentary films on socio-cultural heritage and biographies on eminent personalities. His films “Shiksha me Shadyantra ” and “Sant Ravidass” have bought him wide acclaim from a national and international viewership. He is currently pursuing a documentary project “Unearthing the Buddhist legacy of Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.”
Dr Manisha Bangar, National Vice-president – BAMCEF, is a leading organiser of Mulniwasi Bahujans in India. A practising Transplant Hepatologist, Bangar is also an Associate Professor of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Deccan Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad. And an orator, writer and speaker on many prominent media portals. Over the past decade she has been invited to speak at Universities, Human rights and Phule-Ambedkarite organizations in India and abroad, at the United Nations, ISRO , JNU , HCU , ONGC, Interfaith Organizations, to name a few, on topics ranging from gender equality, health, science and education to caste, democracy, nation and nationalism.
