बाबासाहेबांच्या मते स्वतंत्र आणि सार्वभौम भारताचे उद्दिष्ट काय असले पाहिजे?

What Congress And Gandhi Have Done To the Untouchables? या ग्रंथात बाबासाहेब आंबेडकरांनी ब्रिटिशांना हाकलून लावल्यावर, स्वतंत्र आणि सार्वभौम भारतात त्रैवर्णिक शासक वर्ग काय करणार ? हा प्रश्न उपस्थित केला.
त्यावर उत्तर असे मिळाले की,

“What will the governing class do when India becomes a sovereign and independent state ? Some hope that they will undertake reform of tenancy laws, enlarge factory legislation, extend primary education, introduce prohibition and train people to ply charkha, construct roads and canals, improve currency, regulate weights and measures, open dispensaries and undertake other measures to ameliorate the condition
of the servile classes. No one from the servile class can be very enthusiastic about such a programme. In the first place, there is nothing very great in it. In the world of today, no governing, class can omit to undertake reforms which are necessary to maintain society in a civilized state. Personally, I have grave doubts about the governing class in India coming forward to carry out even such a modest programme of social amelioration. Most people forget that what leads the Congress today to mouth such a programme is the desire to show that the Congress is better than the British Bureaucracy. But once the bureaucracy is liquidated, will there be the same incentive to better the lot of the masses ? I entertain very grave doubts on the point….”

तथापि, भारतातील बहुसंख्य नागरिकांना स्वराज्यात, स्वतंत्र आणि सार्वभौम भारतात नेमके काय अपेक्षित आहे, हे अधोरेखित करताना बाबासाहेब लिहितात,

“Apart from this, is social amelioration the be all and end-all of Swaraj ? Speaking for the servile classes, I have no doubt that what they expect to happen in a sovereign and free India is a complete destruction of Brahmanism as a philosophy of life and as a social order.”

संक्षिप्त विवेचन

भौतिक सुख सुविधा वगैरे देऊ , शिक्षण देऊ, सिंचन देऊ असले आश्वासन शासक वर्ग देत होता. ब्रिटिश नौकरशाही पेक्षा आम्ही सरस सुराज्य देऊ असा दावा त्रैवर्णिक काँग्रेस ने ठोकला होता. बाबासाहेबांनी यावर टिप्पणी करताना सांगितलं की, यात काही भव्यदिव्य इत्यादी नाही, सभ्य जगात किमान सुविधा देणं हे त्या त्या शासक वर्गाचे कर्तव्यच आहे. त्यापासून सुटका नाही. भारतातील त्रैवर्णिक शासक वर्ग भारतीय नागरिकांना किमान सुविधा पण देईल का ? अशी शंका देखील त्यांनी उपस्थित केली.
आणि निक्षून सांगितले की स्वतंत्र आणि सार्वभौम भारतात आम्हाला जे घडावे वाटते ते हे, की

“जीवनाचे तत्वज्ञान म्हणून आणि सामाजिक व्यवस्था म्हणून ब्राह्मणधर्म समूळ नष्ट झाला पाहिजे..”

बाबासाहेबांनी अधोरेखित केलेले हे उद्दिष्ट स्वतंत्र, सार्वभौम, संविधानिक भारतातील तमाम नागरिकांचे उद्दिष्ट झाले पाहिजे.
